National Night Out began in 1984 as an effort to promote involvement in crime prevention activities, police-community partnerships, neighborhood camaraderie and to send a message to criminals to let them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back.

This program culminates annually on the first Tuesday of August. This activity involves millions of people in all fifty states. Please be sure to participate by turning on your porch light that evening. We hope to see you Tuesday, August 1, 2017.

Sincerely,

Douglas Avenue United Methodist Church News

The Wooden It Be Lovely ministry of DAUMC is having a sale of re-purposed wooden furniture on Saturday, March 25, 2017, beginning at 9:00 a.m. In the past, they have had some incredibly cute pieces that would make a wonderful addition to someone’s home. Another ministry at DAUMC is their community garden, located directly south of the church’s parking lot. There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, March 29th at 6:30 at the church. This year, they hope to allow individual families to come and plant what they choose and have a “box” (raised bed) garden of their own. There will also be a gardening night each week for people to help out and garden together.
